They say: “Behind every successful man, there is a strong woman.”

I would like to add: “Behind every strong human, there is a strong mother – or father, sister, and grandfather.”

We should never downplay the importance of family support in the success of an individual.

Which bring me to the painful subject of emotional abuse:

How can we feel our best when we still remember the abuse we experienced as a child? When the toxic dynamic of our family have left us so wounded that we struggle to believe in our own abilities? When we see every potential relationship as an open door to pain and suffering?

Emotional abuse is real, and all the sadness, anger and shame that comes with it is as much sharp and real.

However, God asks us to honor our parents; God asks us to forgive.

In our difficult walk towards healing, God wants…
